ACS Smart Biz Card

I. GENERAL

This document outlines the privacy measures governing ACS’s mobile application, ACS-Smart Biz Card. ACS-Smart Biz Card is a demo application for creating electronic business cards with the aid of a smart card reader, as well as exchanging and storing these cards using a tablet. It is used in conjunction with select ACS smart card readers and contactless smart cards.

II. PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION

The application requests the following information from users during the process of creating an electronic business card: name (first, middle, surname); job title; company name; company address; office number; mobile number; email address. The application does not store the information and solicits no further personally identifiable information apart from these. Information stored on the card may be deleted or overwritten by the user through the application.

The abovementioned information is requested solely to populate the business cards created by the user. Information cannot be gathered by the application unless a user encodes the requested information into the application.

III. INFORMATION STORAGE AND PROTECTION

The application enables storage of the aforementioned information, but does not transmit it to other parties in a manner apart from its data exchange function, which enables users to exchange business cards with others. When a user exchanges electronic business cards with other parties, information is protected through smart card-based encryption technologies.

The developer does not, under any circumstances, collect information encoded into the application. Nor does the developer collect, retain, or provide third parties with personally identifiable information of downloaders of the ACS-Smart Biz Card application.

IV. ABOUT THE DEVELOPER

ACS-Smart Biz Card is developed by Advanced Card Systems Ltd. (ACS), which develops and distributes smart cards, smart card readers, and related services to over 100 countries. It is publicly listed in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (SEHK: 2086) and provides further company information via www.acs.com.hk.

V. NOTIFICATION OF CHANGES

Changes to ACS-Smart Biz Card’s privacy policy will be reflected in this document upon application update. Privacy settings updates will be posted along with other application notes, which are summarized on the application page of app-hosting platforms featuring this application.

VI. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

ACS has developed this application using only legally acquired resources, and in compliance with common ethical standards. ACS has developed this application solely to demonstrate the functionalities of its products, and will not be held responsible for any illegal or malicious activity that may be enabled by this application.

While ACS-Smart Biz Card is designed using the principles of privacy protection, users are encouraged to follow best practices to secure their devices against malware and other threats that may undermine the security features of downloaded applications.
